Topic: Egypt and Megalithic culture: Nabta
Also in the Egyptian pre-history the megalithic culture was present with sites really similar to the European ones.

I'm making reference to Nabta [about 6,500 years ago - 4,500 b.c.]

Good question Egyptica.

It's an interesting map.
The red signs are the megalithic sites, the gree areas are [an indication, not accurate with reference to real dimensions] the regions of the ancient known developed civilization shared the age of the megaliths in part or in large measure. About precolombian civilization the Olmeca one came "too late" [at least, so far, according to archeologists] to share the meghalithic age.

I could make some criticisms about this perspective, [overall reagarding just the American continent]. Anyway I use this map to show he diffusion of the Megaliths.

It's interesting that the main megalithic sites are not linked in a visible way to the developement of those great civilizations.

If we take into account the Mesolithic and Megalith's cultures, then the Egyptian burials and those, Megalith's in the Asia, prove to have contemporary time-lines, as a result it is fairly obvious that the traditions could be shared among these contemporary societies.

Megaliths are one kind of rock art used in the aesthetic manner in various societies [of those times], interestingly, they encompass more similarity in their manifestations in comparison to complexity of higher technology of Pyramids. It could be more because of the primary symmetric technologies of stone age cultures in comparisons to the Bronze Age Civilizations succeeding them.

Sure B,

Nabta Playa is an evidence of the presence of the pre-historical culture of Megaliths in Egypt already in the 6th millenium b.c.

Anyway is out of doubt that Ancient Egypt showed the greatest developement in history of the Megalithic architecture [Saqqara, Giza, Dashur ... they are "Megalith sites" in the real meaning of the term: buildings and compunds made by "giant stones"].

About technology and architecture, the idea to put giant stones together to create structures ... it's the same: from Stonehenge to Giza ...

The important aspect to take into consideration over here is that when the contemporary societies (specially Harappan civilization) were building horizontal public structures like towns and granaries, Egyptian Civilization were into grandeaur structures of Pyramids. Essentially it is important to undestand that weather these linkings for huge monuments were for eulogisisng the spirits of rulers or something else?

One more correction kindly correct me if I am wrong: The oldest relics of Egyptian Civilization date back to 3100-2950 BC!
